Police Training

Police Training has been a field of great focus and passion for Varun Kapoor. He is a Certified Trainer of the United States Department of Justice (USDOJ) in the year 1997. Under this certification he is a qualified trainer for “Human Rights” and “Transition Training”. After his certification he was appointed the Deputy Training Chief for the entire Gorazde Canton in the United States Mission in Bosnia & Herzegovina (UNMIBH). Here under his able guidance the entire Police force of the Canton (province) was trained in the above two courses as a transition to Democratic systems of policing. In fact the Gorazde Canton was the first to achieve this milestone of training the entire provincial force in democratic policing principles in the entire country.

He is also a Master Trainer identified by the Department for Funding International Development (DFID) of the United Kingdom in the year 2002. This was after successful completion of the two phase Training of Trainers course organized by DFID and IODA. The first phase was held at HIPA in Shimla (HP) and second phase was at Coventry and West Bromwich in the United Kingdom. After the strenuous training he was nominated as the Master Trainer for India for TOT courses for the Police forces around the country.

Varun Kapoor is also a National Resource Person of the Bureau of Police Research & Development (BPR&D) New Delhi. He has been given this tag in the areas of women security; cyber security and training of trainers. In fact he has been deputed to be member of a special team for conducting training of police trainers at the Police Training College at Chennai (Tamil Nadu); Kerala Police Academy at Thrissur (Kerala) and the Police Training School at Goa.

He is a National Level Trainer for leading wildlife conservation bodies operating in the country. This includes the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) of the Government of India; World Wildlife Fund (WWF) – main; Western India Landscape; Terai Arc Landscape; Satpuda Maikal; Kaziranga- Karbi Anglong & Centre for Environmental Law; TRAFFIC; Freelands & Wild Life Trust of India. Under this he has provided extensive training in the leading Tiger Reserve’s; National parks; Wildlife Sanctuaries and other Protected Areas in the country. He has trained extensively Forest Officers; Police Officers; para-Military Officers; Judicial Officers; Custom Officers and other conservationists and naturalists in the use of technology to safeguard wildlife and wild landscapes.

Varun Kapoor also headed the only Police technical training institute of Madhya Pradesh Police called the Police Radio Training School (PRTS) at Indore (MP) from 2011-2016. He developed this institute from the scratch (he provided it its first logo) to a leading training centre of international repute. He not only developed its infrastructure to match international standards (an Australian Police Officer who visited PRTS even claimed that it was better than the training facilities available to the police in Australia) but also greatly improved its training methodology; content and quality. He started the training of cyber security at PRTS way back in 2011. It was nurtured with such effort and zeal that PRTS earned the reputation of the best Police Training Centre for cyber security training in the country. The quality and volume of trainings in cyber security imparted at PRTS had no match in the country.
